Learning to bring birds close, use water wisely, stay loving, stay screaming, lose my mind a little each day to keep from losing it a lot at once. Plus some poems I published.
Nice. I have bickering hummingbirds outside my garden window. I built a Corvid Condo out of stacked milk cartons. It's guarded by Percy and Annabeth, a pair of Steller's jays. Sometimes an invading scrub jay comes to steal peanuts from the Condo. Percy and his redoubtable mate don't stand for it. They tolerate invading crows. I like to watch birds bicker. They're like families.
A CORVID CONDO!!!! what a world you've built ted, i love it i love it i love it. last winter i had a very pushy jay who would tap on the window if the Daily Peanuts weren't available by the time of his visit, only to discover he'd been hoarding them in a nearby stray brick. the natural drama is so real and i'm here for it. 🍿
Enchanted by your bird busy-ness. Since we moved here, I have also fallen in love with the sky and its world of clouds and birds. The hummingbird skirmishes have returned, and I'm pretending that the Rufous who guards our back-porch feeder is the same guy every time, every year. His name is Derek, and I love to chide him while whispering to the others that there's another feeder around the corner.
